A year that was as fictional to me 35 years ago, reading George Orwells 1984, as the time 1984 was to the children of the day when Orwell actually published the fictional futuristic dystopian novel in 1949. For that matter 2020 then was as fictional to me as 1984 is too today’s youth.
We are now living in the futuristic days of the Matrix and Blade Runner in this adult child’s mind.
We are now in the days of the future.
On this Spring day in April 2020, it all seems quite surreal.
Years ago shortly after my mother passed away, so it would have been the summer of 2010, I read a very interesting sci-fi novel. The main character had his extra memory stored in a chip he accessed through a side screen imbedded in the lens of his glasses, and it was, what today we would call a cashless society. Now Bitcoin has been around for awhile, but this new interesting form of currency still eludes the moms and pops of Indiana, Idaho, and Wauchope, Saskatchewan. Have you heard about this new titillating option by the great, and never late Mark Zuckerberg. The founding father of our friendly social platform Facebook.
In the spring of 2019 Mr. Zuckerberg began the process of starting a Crypto Currency out of Switzerland, AND was willing to share the start up with 6 other Credit Card companies so that he did not have majority control. This was halted by an American Congressional Order.
I at the time thought it a terrible idea but realize now, that him not creating this crypto currency, means that someone is going to do it. Possibly China, more than likely. That American Congressional Order could have signed the end of the US as we have understood it for the last 200 years on the Global Stage. Something to think of while sitting on the couch figuring what binge worthy Netflix series will be next in your Self Isolation regime during these Days of Covid.
It was rather considerate of him to include the Credit Card Companies in his plan for World Economic and Political Domination, considering the monopoly he has on global social media. Facebook purchased Instagram for 1 billion dollars and Whats App for 19 billion. Anything that appears might have a chance at pulling up behind him he buys for an exhorbenant amount of money. Easy Peasy. Zuckerberg is truly the man closest to World Domination, as an independent, with Amazon close behind.
Something to pay close attention to and the crypto currency Libra is something to think about during The Days of Covid.
UPDATE February 9th 2021.
It has seriously been proven to me, in so many painful ways, since I read about The Libra last Spring in The NY Times, how very wrong I just could have been with my immediate kibosh of Zuckerberg's strategy.
And it turned out those 6 Credit Card companies turned into 36 cooperation’s that were backing him, and slowly so slowly things have unravelled. A name change in November from Libra meaning free, to Diem, meaning Day (Huh?). 6 companies have pulled out and really it is not a cryptocurrency? All too much for my brain on a Cold February morning.
All I know is their January 2021 roll out did not happen. Shame. It could have been interesting.
So Covidvid Days Food For Thought? Why is this happening? Could each of us individually have made this unpleasant and scary time into a reality? Can we, will we, do things differently in the future? Only questions self can answer?
So where did these thoughts, with no answer or confident opinion come from. The Libra, was I wrong? Covid? Is it our fault for not being kinder to each other?
They have been percolating for three weeks or so and my morning stroll seemed to have loosened my mental constipation I have been painfully suffering with. Actually it was the person I met after grabbing a couple of Joe’s for the road, that unplugged me.
How my day began.
530 up this morning and walking to Timmie’s by 6 or 615.
The morning is beautiful. They are calling for a real Spring Day. A break in the cold weather, finally.
Vancouver Island seemed quiet, and little Duncan even more so. This April 2020 morning, all are entrapped in the jail cells created by the Bush regime of the ‘80’s. Chicks, and Cars and The Third World War. (https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://genius.com/amp/Colin-james-chicks-n-cars-and-the-third-world-war-lyrics&ved=2ahUKEwi6qpGgjtnoAhUSNH0KHZjUBB8QFjAIegQIBBAB&usg=AOvVaw0pkWRhk9e1rveh05tJgPsS&cf=1 )
This war began pre the Bush Senior Administration, but he was in The CIA when it started, and it ramped up in 1984, in so many different ways when he was in office. I like to give that Gentleman credit for where we sit today.
Regardless the Third World War that Colin James sings about so eloquently seems to have come to a head with The Corona Virus or Covid-19. I understand a link for information regarding this topic unnecessary as it is all we hear about at present. A World Wide Pandemic. I was surprised when arriving at Tim Hortons this morning that I did not have to walk through the drive thru but could actually enter the establishment to purchase my coffee. One of the few Fast Food Venues that are still allowing the public indoor access.
This elicited another random thought. Where are the homeless going to the bathroom? Will human waste issues need to be addressed? Do communities need to put porta-potties around towns? Covid Days. These are the things consuming my mind.
The staff at Timmies were gracious and kind. The young woman working, a foreign worker I assume, as we have tired of the idea of menial labour ourselves. North American Society being ensnared by the Socialist Ideology we are neither aware of, or educated on, that is waiting to swallow us whole. If the powers that be, The Front Guys for The Plutocrats, men like Zuckerberg, think Socialism is a good idea for Global Peace, I myself do not agree at all. Maybe I could be wrong? Thoughts for The Days of Covid. What that brought this thought process on this beautiful surreal Spring Day was the conversation that was had just outside the doors of The Tim Hortons on my way home.
A person asked me if I had a cigarette to spare. I had just bought a fresh pouch and had to dig around some, and while doing so she spoke to me about her thoughts on Covid-19. She believed it was possible that it was brought about by the Governments of The World and the push towards a One World Government.
I write this morning, as the words she spoke were different, but not to far off from some of the thoughts that had been flitting through my mind over the last two weeks.
You see I live my life, reuse, recycle and let’s get along. Yes the last part seems to fit into the One World Government Ideology. Walmart does not seem to me to fit into it as well though in the divide and conquer Capitalist Model it has managed to crawl to the top of. That was the only place I could buy anything last week in The Port Alberni Valley.
As I hunted around for somewhere to buy used goods, I started to think about the little guy, that has always been so important to me. The business’ that were just not going to make it. The families that buy all of their clothes, and house goods second hand, and are struggling, out of work right now.
I of course, was also thinking about the crack in my rubber boots, and that really I did not want to spend 30 bucks on another pair at Wally World that were only going to last me another three months.
As the thoughts collided, last week, I must admit that the following thought crossed my mind. Are we going through a process that is going to forever change The World of Consumerism? Are we going to become a World of Self Sustainers vs. The Walmart Culture? And why and where did it come from? The Why is always the need for more. More Power? More Control? Someone has tasted power and they want more. Simply put, the why question is almost always answered with “Greed.”
Yet am I correct?
100%....Well first off I have come to realize that is never the case. 100%correct is impossible. Variables etc.
In this situation, although I have begged and pleaded no one has invited me to a meeting over lunch, with these Gents nor have their wives invited me for dinner. Maybe as populations grow, and the extremes become more extreme, maybe the upper echelon of business tycoons..well could they be genuinely trying to look out for us? Could they know best? Will we still have any freedoms? Thoughts for The Days of Covid.
There are truly some folks out there with power that have good intentions and yes, I agree with them, some people need to be governed. Cripes I need to be governed many a day. This being said that does not mean I want to lose my ability to choose.
Choose where I buy my clothes and how long my planet will last. I want to be able to choose these things, and I believe the right to choose should belong to the masses for as long as is possible.
As I stood in front of Timmie’s at 630 AM and listened to this person speak I was inspired. It reminded me what was important. She shared with me her opinions regarding the jails we live in, in our daily lives, brought about by our perceived needs. These needs slowly becoming addictions. Addictions to our youth, to comfort, to food, to sex, to drugs, and of course to alcohol.
The need for acceptance. Acceptance built upon, people judging each other. Yuck. The inspiring thing was how aware she was. I listened to her, then she listened to me, so on and so forth.
I will leave you with “Theses Things To Think Of During The Days of Covid.
